第十二篇: 品格

原文

夫围棋之品有九。一曰入神，二曰坐照，三曰具体，四曰通幽，五曰用智，六曰小巧，七曰斗力，八曰若愚，九曰守拙。九品之外不可胜计，未能入格，今不复云。《传》曰﹕“生而知之者，上也；学而知之者，次也；困而学之又其次也。”

白话文

围棋的品位共分九等。第一等叫入神，第二等叫坐照，第三等叫具体，第四等叫通幽，第五等叫用智，第六等叫小巧，第七等叫斗力，第八等叫若愚，第九等叫守拙。九品之外的人数不可胜计，都还未能入格，这里不再细说。《传》说：“生来就懂的人是上等；学习之后懂的人次之；遇到困境才学习的人又次之。”

Translation

The ranks of Weiqiare nine. First is called Entering the Divine. Second, Seated Illumination. Third, Embodied Substance. Fourth, Penetrating the Hidden. Fifth, Employing Intelligence. Sixth, Lesser Skill. Seventh, Contesting by Force. Eighth, Seeming Foolish. Ninth, Guarding Simplicity. Beyond these nine are too many to count, yet they have not entered true measure, and need not be discussed here. The Tradition says: “Those who know by nature are highest; those who know through learning are next; those who learn only through hardship are below them.”
