第一篇: 论局

夫万物之数，从一而起。局之路，三百六十有一。一者，生数之主，据其极而运四方也。三百六十，以象周天之数。分而为四，以象四时。隅各九十路，以象其日。外周七二路，以象其候。枯棋三百六十，白黑相半，以法阴阳。局之线道，谓之枰。线道之间，谓之罫。局方而静，棋圆而动。自古及今，弈者无同局。《传》曰：“日日新。”故宜用意深而存虑精，以求其胜负之由，则至其所未至矣。

万事万物的数量，总是从一开始。围棋的路数，总计为三百六十一。所谓一，这是其他数产生的依托，把握了这个根本才能控制四方。所谓三百六十，这是模拟周天的数目。分成四个角，这是模拟四季的数目。每角各分九十路，这是模拟每一季的天数。周围七十二路，这是模拟时令的变化。枯棋三百六十，白子和黑子各占一半，旨在仿效阴阳。棋局的线、路叫做棋盘，线、路交错所构成的方格称之为拐。棋局是方形的、静态的，棋子则是圆形的、运动的。从古到今，对弈中从未出现过相同的棋局。文字记载：“每天都有新的变化。”所以，棋手应该用意深微，考虑周密，以探求胜败的原因所在，只要这样做了，就能够达到前人未曾达到的水准。枯棋：〈玄玄棋•棋经十三篇〉严德甫、晏天章注：“枯棋，韦宏嗣〈博弈论〉有‘枯棋三百’之语，其义不详。或曰，古者棋局棋子，皆以木为之，故曰枯棋。”

Translation

The number of all things begins from One. The paths of the board are three hundred and sixty-one. The One is the lord from which number is born; occupying the utmost point, it moves the four quarters. The three hundred and sixty mirror the circuit of Heaven; divided into four, they mirror the four seasons. Each corner has ninety paths, mirroring the days of a season; the outer circuit has seventy-two paths, mirroring the seasonal nodes. The dead stones number three hundred and sixty, with black and white equally divided, taking Yin and Yang as their law. The lines of the board are called the *ping*; the spaces between the lines are called the *gua*. The board is square and still; the stones are round and moving. From antiquity to the present, no two games have ever been the same. The tradition says: “Day by day, there is renewal.” Therefore the player should make intention deep and thought precise, seeking the cause of victory and defeat; then he may arrive where he has not yet arrived.
